Checklist for international students

Before going to VIA University College Denmark to study, we strongly recommend that you go through the checklist below in order to handle a number of practical issues.

  • Apply for the degree programme / exchange programme you wish to attend (deadlines and procedures are described under the relevant programme).
  • If you have to pay tuition fee (non-EU students enrolled on degree programmes), make sure that you meet the deadlines for payment, stated in the information from your Programme Contact Person.
  • Students from non-EU countries must apply for a visa and a residence permit (and, if needed, a work permit). You can find a list of countries whose citizens must have a visa to enter Denmark on the website of the Danish Immigration Service: http://www.nyidanmark.dk/en-us/frontpage.htm
  • Apply for accommodation. Check the procedure under the relevant programme.
  • Check the coverage of your personal insurances and take out relevant supplementary insurances for health, accidents, third-party liability, luggage and personal belongings.
  • Check the academic calendar for your programme to see when the semester and tuition start.
  • Plan your journey and inform your Programme Contact Person at VIA University College Denmark and, if required, also the contact person for accommodation about the date and time of your arrival.
