Work Placement
An essential virtue of VIA University College and our students is to put theoretic results into use in the 'real world' outside the gates of the institution. We are practical-minded with a project-oriented approach to teaching. This is greatly appreciated by both graduates and partners in the business life and public administration.
Local companies are very pleased with our graduates and, to a continuously wider extent, we get the same kind of positive feedback from both foreign-based companies and Danish companies operating abroad. This good relationship between our students and the business life or public institutions is established long before graduation, as it is essential for all of our students to get practical experience.
The period of practical placement can vary between 3 months and one full semester. In case of cooperation between the student and the company on a project, the placement can be extended.
Work placement abroad
Students going abroad for their practical placement are met with the same demands and offered the same counselling as students who carry out their practical placement in Denmark. In advance of the practical placement, the student and the company/host institution must prepare and agree on learning objectives and a placement schedule. These must be approved by the student's academic counsellor at Campus Horsens as part of the student's study programme.
The counsellor at the programme can give advice concerning practical arrangements – accommodation, insurance, etc. – but students will be responsible for making the arrangements themselves. Students from EU countries can apply for an Erasmus grant to support their stay abroad.
We recommend that you start planning you practical placement abroad in good time. For students going to European countries: at the start of the semester before going. For students going overseas: one year before going.

Accommodation when abroad
At www.housinganywhere.com or wimdu.com, you have the possibility of finding a room to rent in the country in which you are going to stay. Be aware that you may not rent out your own apartment or room while abroad if you are staying at one of Drosselbo's facilities in Horsens.
