International semester
On the international course at Viborg School of Nursing, all communication takes place in English.
The instructions and discussions are in English, and all the assessments and assignment are in English.
This is in order to broaden our cooperation with countries outside Scandinavia, and as English is many students' first or second language, we have set up this English semester.
The semester has four weeks of clinical training besides laboratory sessions at the university college.
Public health problems and health strategies have been discussed for several decades at both international and national levels.
In Denmark, Family Health Care has focused on the health and welfare of mothers, babies and small children. The nurses have made great contributions to this area since the 1930's.
And since World War 2 efforts have been made to prevent, for example, epidemic diseases, vascular diseases, cancer, allergies and AIDS, resulting in general health promotion and community health care becoming a major part of health strategy programs, and nurses playing an increasingly larger role in these programs and in Primary Health Care.
During the last ten years, the need for interdisciplinary cooperation also played an increasingly larger role.
For Danish Students The international module corresponds to Unit 5 &6 in the Danish National Regulations for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing of 2008.
