Investigating Practices – Education, Health and Society  is a multidisciplinary international module for students from the fields of education, social education, health and sports. The module includes studies of Danish society and Danish educational traditions relating to physical culture, health and movement. The module also includes one week of practice in an educational/social/caring institution.
A similar module has been successfully given by VIA University College in Viborg for the past seven years, attracting students worldwide and achieving excellent student evaluations. The language of instruction is English.

Contents of the Module
Through fieldwork, lessons and field trips you will acquire a comprehensive understanding of the social educational field in Denmark – for instance, day-care centres, schools, outreach activities with youth and drop-in centres for abusers.
 
You will:

  • obtain experience with fieldwork – exploring problems and possibilities of different approaches to educational enquiry. You will develop skills in the collection, analysis and interpretation of various data materials – for example, video recordings, observations and interviews.
  • practice making lesson plans by using, for instance, Natural Sciences and Visual Arts.
  • gain experience in the traditional Danish study methods: working project-oriented, group-oriented and problem-based in co-operation with fellow students.
  • develop an understanding of cultural diversity by working in an intercultural learning environment.
The module also includes one week of practice in an educational/social/caring institution.
