The objective of the clinical practice is to establish a relationship between your theoretical and practical knowledge. The practice placements are e.g. in rehabilitation centres, health centres, community centres and psychiatric drop-in centres in the local area. Teaching is also carried out at hospitals, special schools and other specialist institutions.
You may appreciate to know that as a student you are not part of the staff. You are in clinical practice to learn. On the other hand, your work is definitely of great value for the people receiving occupational therapy and for the colleagues who work with you. A clinical teacher will be present to support your learning process. The clinical practice covers 28 weeks (42 ECTS points). These are split up into six periods of varying duration. We find it important that your programme is as diverse as possible. We will therefore give you a number of professional challenges at various occupational therapy centres. You will be working with qualified colleagues on interdisciplinary collaborative projects and with target groups of Occupational Therapy (individuals or groups). This will enable you to relate the various subjects of the theoretical course to the actual work of occupational therapists. We always focus on your needs to develop your theoretical knowledge and apply it to the people you meet. You will have to practice clear communication, listening to other people and considering what you are presented with as a reflective professional practitioner.
