Curriculum

In January 2008 all nursing schools in Denmark started to implement a National Curriculum. The education is defined as a medium-cycled higher educational program which is profession-based and associated with research.

The Bachelor Degree Course in Nursing is based on:

  • The Ministerial Order of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Act. 29 of 24 January 2008
  • The EU Directive
  • The Bologna Declaration
  • The process towards a qualification framework for Danish higher education

The duration of the course is 3½ years and it provides 210 ECTS points. The course is divided into seven terms and 14 modules. This means that one academic year is divided into two terms, and each term is divided into two modules. Every term gives 30 ECTS, and every one of the modules gives 15 ECTS. Each module has its own field of study relevant to the nursing profession and is a completed entity with its own assessments.

The nursing course provides the student with competences to:

  • conduct nursing
  • manage nursing
  • facilitate nursing
  • develop nursing

That each module is a completed unit with its own assessment means that international exchange - so to say - is a part of the course already from the Ministerial Order.
