The Core is Knowledge

Education is knowledge – and the condition for knowledge is education. This approach pervades our widely ramified institution. Some of our study programmes have been created in recent years while others have trained students for the Danish society for several hundred years.

The international aspect has a central placing and is of major significance to the way we educate. As an example of this a large number of our students take their practical training abroad.

Our knowledge has been developed due to our constant desire for improving our study programmes. We aim to make the programmes more equal to practice and the same time increase the theoretic level. The alternation between theory and practice is characteristic for the Scandinavian education culture. We combine theory and practice, deeply rooted in the trades and professions which VIA University College educates for.

All our study programmes include practical training periods where students do not only observe, but work e.g. at hospitals, in schools and at building sites. They are subjected to real life dilemmas where the ability to combine theory with practice gives the students basis for creating new knowledge and insight. This type of education is the foundation of VIA University College.

On top of the foundation large academic units have grown. Theory and practice thrive side by side, uniting some of this country’s largest concentrations of teaching competences.

We make a difference, particularly within:

  • Educational science – learning and social conditions
  • Technical science
  • Health science
  • Computer science
